We set off on Tour C with high expectations. It was our last tour before we moved onto Coron so I was hoping for another amazing day and hopefully more turtles.
We sailed past more amazing rock formations and hidden beaches. Apparently Alex Garland, the author of the novel “The Beach”, was inspired to write the book whilst living in El Nido. After my last few posts, you can see why!
We woke up to bright blue skies and glorious sunshine. We devoured our delicious breakfast, grabbed our rash guards, plenty of suncream and trotted off down to the boat. After the excitement of the first tour, we set out on Tour A wondering if it would quite match up to what we had experienced on Tour B.
Tour B is based around the visits to Big and Small Lagoon where the tranquil turquoise waters of its orchid-lined limestone walls, showcase a kaleidoscope of marine life. Scientists believe that these lagoons were actually caves that collapsed millions of years ago leaving behind these beautiful gifts, the lagoons.
We woke up early to the rain still pouring. But there is something about tropical rain that just makes it more acceptable than the rain anywhere else.
I dozed back off for an hour or so and by the time the knock at the door came with our breakfast, the rain had stopped and we got the go-ahead for our first boat tour to begin.
The journey to Palawan started the night before we even left the island. We packed up our flat and moved our belongings to our new apartment. Yes, we have moved out of the jungle palace! Unfortunately there had just been too many hiccups and communicating with our landlady, who doesn’t live on the island, was becoming a bind. Too much of our time was being spent buying things that should already have been in the flat when we arrived or organising for them to be delivered. Luckily, I had met a lovely guy on the beach a few days earlier and having spoken to him about our issues, we came to an arrangement on one of the villas he owns in the same area and it’s just divine. Authentic but practical.
